Whitmer Demands Gun Confiscation Orders
It was only a matter of time before Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer made a full-throated endorsement of gun control and start making demands for the Republican-controlled Legislature to “act.”
Yesterday afternoon, Governor Whitmer took to Twitter to call on the Legislature to “act now” on passing Democrat State Representative Robert Wittenberg’s due process-shredding “Red Flag” gun confiscation bill, House Bill 4283.
This is exactly what I warned you about happening over these last few months.
I knew that as soon as tragedy happened, Whitmer and her allies in Lansing would pounce at the opportunity to push gun control.
And even though Republicans control the Legislature, this is no guarantee that a version of “Red Flag” won’t pass…
…especially with President Trump giving his full support to gun confiscation orders, effectively giving Republican lawmakers across the country the cover they need follow suit.

If Gov. Whitmer gets her way in getting a “Red Flag” bill sent to her desk, it’ll be a nightmare come true for gun owners in Michigan.
Imagine awaking to a loud banging on your front door in the middle of the night.
All of a sudden, government agents burst through your door — demanding you turn over your legally-owned firearms.
You’ve received no notice and haven’t even been charged with a crime.
But someone down the street saw your “pro-gun” bumper sticker and doesn’t like it, or an estranged family member can’t stand your political views, and decided you were a threat to yourself and others, so they called the cops.
Contrary to the claims of “Red Flag” proponents, there is no due process and there is certainly no presumption of innocence, both of which are the bedrock of the American judicial system.
If House Bill 4283, which already has 22 co-sponsors, becomes law, Michiganders could have their rights stripped without any crime having been committed and then be forced to go before a court to prove their innocence after the fact.
Gun confiscation orders are now the gun control crowd’s top priority nationwide and, in the wake of El Paso and Dayton, they are making an all-out push to pass these dangerous laws in as many states as possible.
Don’t think it can’t happen here.
Republican-controlled Florida passed a “Red Flag” law just last year.
Republican in Congress are flocking to support “Red Flag” laws, including Michigan Congressman Fred Upton who has long advocated for gun confiscation orders, and now President Trump is using his bully pulpit to get Republicans lined up behind the measure.
This will have an impact on Republicans in the Michigan Legislature.
