Democrats took full control of Lansing last night.
Anti-gun Democrat Jocelyn Benson will be Governor.
Radical gun-grabbing Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit will be Attorney General. And Abdul El-Sayed will be in the U.S. Senate.
Democrats will control the House 63-47 and the Senate 23-15.
There’s no way to sugarcoat the results from last night. Republicans were wiped out across the nation and Michigan was no exception.
The one silver lining from last night is that State Rep. Jim DeSana won reelection in House District 29. He is the sponsor of the bills to repeal Whitmer’s “Red Flag” gun confiscation scheme. He will be back in the House to fight the next round.
And there were several other pro-gun legislators like Steve Carra and newcomer Joe Moss who won their races last night. Jacee, our rights will be under constant assault come January 2027.
Benson and her Democrat allies in the Legislature will immediately work to act on Governor Whitmer’s Gun Violence Prevention Task Force recommendations which includes:
● assault weapon bans
● magazine bans
● waiting periods
● more “Red Flag” confiscation
● expanded gun-free zones
● and lawsuits aimed at the firearms industry. On paper, they now have the votes to move it, but nothing is final until the votes are cast and we must fight them for every inch.
We’re preparing to throw everything at them, to make it as politically painful as possible to pass any piece of an anti-gun legislation possible. The more we fight and the more politically painful it is, the more of our rights we preserve.
We simply cannot phone it in because they took back full control. It is incumbent on us to do all that we can to derail their radical schemes. I hope I can count on you again as you stood with us during their last anti-gun onslaught back in 2023.
